Solo work
The Social Tummy is a 10 minute solo performance I wrote and performed in 2017 as a part of my studies. I wrote this solo piece because I wanted to challenge the stigma around pooping and farting especially as a woman. Having IBS have put me into embarrassing situations where my stream of consciousness is taking over to make me feel less ashamed. During the time of creating this performance I realised that it was not something we normally talk about, and if we do it's often with shame and worry, which is something I aimed to challenge with my solo.
I was also invited to perform my solo at the Thrown Gauntlet Art Festival in Falmouth in January 2018. This mixed art festival aim is to bring communities together by breaking down the boundaries of where we exhibit and see art. This solo will also be a part of 'Club Solo' and will be performed at the Poly in May.
