Andrea Hoff Utne
About
Hello! My name is Andrea Hoff Utne and I am a Norwegian Actor and Performer based in the UK. In June 2018 I was a part of 'A Journey's End' playing The German Solider at the Minack Theatre with The Cube Essential Theatre.
In 2015, I travelled down to Cornwall from Norway to start my acting training at Falmouth University. Since starting my acting training I have developed my skills as an actor and performer. I have played a variety of different characters throughout the years, and they have all enabled me to grow and learn as an actress and to illustrate my versatility. From a grieving mother in Antigone, a corrupt Judge in Devil in Drag, Helena in A Midsummer night’s dream, a protesting suffragette in Her Naked Skin. During my studies, I have trained in a variety of disciplines such as Stage Combat, Solo Performance, Dramaturgy, Acting for Camera, Radio and Voice Acting. I have had the opportunity to work with many respected practitioners such as Agnieszka Blonska, David Greeves, Misri Day and Mark Laville. Whilst studying at Falmouth I have participated in workshops led by specialists in their fields such as Ellis Pearson from Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, Prodigal Theatre with their character workshops, Claire Inglehart with a singing for the actor workshop and Mihaela Mihut came from the Actors Studio in New York to lead a Method Acting workshop.
I’ve been lucky to have done my training at an arts institution equipped with state of the art facilities. Amata is a public theatre, and have brought in fantastic theatre and dance performances from around the UK for us to see. The university focuses on interdisciplinary collaborations and we have worked extra close with the school of film and television to give us more experience and training in front of a camera, which has given us the opportunity to be a part of student films. Last year I had the opportunity to work with the professional director and actor Sean Cronin, he directed and filmed scenes for our showreels. For my final performance at Falmouth University I played Mrs Schlifkle in ‘Her Naked Skin’ directed by Mark Laville in this production, I was also the co-assistant director.
In addition to performing I enjoy travelling, I love to meet new people and experience different cultures and languages. I have been travelling around the world already but I’m always eager to see more. Growing up in Norway I have always loved the outdoors. I try to go hiking every time I come back. I enjoy being active and I’m now on an intermediate level with Pole Fitness and I have just started learning aerial silk/hoops.
In addition to acting, I create my own independent work. I wrote and curated my own solo performance ‘The Social Tummy’ last year which was accepted to be a part of ‘Club Solo’ and will be performed at ‘The Poly’ in Falmouth in May 2018. With the newly formed theatre group Transparent theatre I will be performing this solo as a part of ‘Let’s talk about that’ in Falmouth June 2018.
Call me in for your next project – I would love to work with you!
